By blending conceptual and practical considerations, Social Work in Public Health enables authors from many disciplines to examine health and social policy issues, concerns, and questions. This crucial journal focuses on all aspects of policy and social and health care considerations in policy-related matters, including its development, formulation, implementation, evaluation, review, and revision. Social Work in Public Health (recently re-titled from the Journal of Health & Social Policy to better reflect its focus) provides a much-needed forum for social workers and those in health and health-related professions. The journal embraces social work values and seeks to represent diverse and intercultural perspectives. Contributions from practitioners are especially welcome, either in the form of full-length articles or as shorter pieces in the Voices from Practice section. However, papers discussing allied fields of interpersonal help and the organisational and policy contexts that influence practice are also welcome, as are articles offering critical analysis of psychodynamic and systemic theory in the light of other explanatory frameworks. As the title suggests, social work is a prime focus. The journal aims to support and enliven practitioners and academics alike through deep and thoughtful exploration of matters relevant to contemporary practice. It publishes papers based on empirical research, theory and practice experience from the UK and around the world, all of which are anonymously reviewed by two peer reviewers. This journal promotes the use of psychodynamic and systemic perspectives to explore and explain social work practice and relationship-based practice. The articles emphasize applying research, treatment, and interventions to practical situations so the importance of the results will be clear. Research, treatment approaches and techniques, prevention, intervention, and other programs concerning any of these groups are general categories of the published articles and brief reports. The journal advocates for increased networking in the sexual abuse field, greater dissemination of information and research, a higher priority for this international epidemic, and development of effective assessment, intervention, and prevention programs.ĭivided into sections to provide clear information, the journal covers research issues, clinical issues, legal issues, prevention programs, case studies, and brief reports, focusing on three subject groups - child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse or incest, adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse or incest, and sexual abuse or incest offenders. The Journal of Child Sexual Abuse is interdisciplinary and provides an essential interface for researchers, academicians, attorneys, clinicians, and practitioners. Child Abuse & Neglect also invites the engagement of other social scientists (e.g., anthropologists, economists, historians, planners, political scientists, and sociologists) and humanists (e.g., ethicists, legal scholars, political theorists, and theologians) whose studies may contribute to an understanding of (a) the evolution of concepts of - and strategies for - child protection and (b) the responsibilities of individual adults and the institutions of which they are a part to ensure children's safety and their humane care. However, Child Abuse & Neglect: The International Journal also welcomes contributors and readers interested in children's safety in the settings of everyday life - homes, day care centers, schools, playgrounds, youth clubs, health clinics, places of worship, and so forth. Historically, child protection has been commonly perceived to be a matter of concern to professionals in specialized social service, health, mental health, and justice systems. Our new Social Work and Children, Young People and Families catalogue is now available. We aim to publish books that help to address issues arising from poverty, inequality and social injustice. We are particularly known for our books on child protection, with key titles including Re-imagining Child Protection, which calls for a more humane approach to working with vulnerable families, and the bestselling The Story of Baby P, which exposed the truth about how the media and politicians shaped our understanding of this landmark case. Our social work list includes everything from textbooks and hands on practitioner guides, through to our Research in Social Work Series which we co-publish with the European Social Work Research Association.
